Chitaq is a pure organic form of N-acetyl glucosamine (NAG), a major amino sugar that the human body constantly produces to repair and regenerate body tissues.

N-acetyl glucosamine is a necessary component in all human body tissue. It is mostly found in mucous membranes, in the "glue" of the connective tissue that holds cell bundles together, in the synovial fluid which serves as lubricant between joints, and in bone sheaths, cartilage, eye lenses, and the basal membranes of the blood vessels and intestines.

When the body attempts to heal itself after any trauma, it uses NAG to regenerate the injured tissue, thus restoring it to health. Hence, tissue repair is an on-going process that is absolutely fundamental to one's health. In the event that the body is unable to produce enough NAG for its needs (often due to aging), Chitaq can supply NAG to the body at a basic level to compensate for that deficiency.

Since NAG is so fundamental to one's health, a glucosamine supplement like Chitaq can provide a spectrum of benefits so far-reaching that these are yet to be fully explored. There is growing excitement over its potential in the scientific and medical communities.

Osteoarthritis/Rheumatoid Arthritis

In simple terms, various kinds of arthritis, while developed from different origins, have similar conditions which are primarily caused by a depletion of cartilage and synovial fluid. This is often due to illness, overuse or aging. It causes the bones to rub against each other with pain, resulting in inflammation and swelling.

Chitaq replenishes the body with the needed NAG for regeneration. The pain and swelling associated with inflammation will gradually subside as the joints are repaired.

Today many progressive medical practioners, along with the well-informed and concerned public, have turned to NAG for long term treatment of arthritis. For many years, the primary source of relief prescribed by doctors for arthritis has been essentially painkillers. Painkillers have numerous serious side effects. The mild non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), for instance, are known to cause damage to the stomach lining, and can result in ulcers. However, since NSAIDs are painkillers, stomach pain is numbed as well. Hence damage is often not felt until it is too late. The Arthritis Society estimates that in Canada alone, there are 20,000 cases of gastrointestinal bleeds and 1,400 deaths due to non-steroidals every year. Furthermore, by blocking pain, a fundamental aspect in maintaining health, the alarm system of the body is suppressed. When this is added to the severe side effects of other powerful prescription drugs that the patient may also be taking, the price of painkillers may be very high indeed.

And NSAIDs are only mild painkillers with moderate side effects.

Mindful of the decline in the multi-billion dollar business in painkillers for arthritis, pharmaceutical companies are racing to develop new and more expensive painkillers that are more "friendly" to the stomach. These bring in another round of new side effects, some of which are still yet to be understood.

Painkillers by nature do not address the root problem of arthritis. However, this does not mean that painkillers do not have a role to play. Many patients do need them for relief. On the other hand, Chitaq aims at long term healing. Since NAG is already naturally produced in the body, Chitaq will not conflict with the usage of painkillers, or other medication for that matter.

Post-Surgery Recovery

Thirty years ago, a group of researchers in Europe was intrigued by the observation that post-surgery recovery was dramatically improved with shark cartilage therapy. They set out to discover which of the numerous substances in the cartilage was responsible for the improvement. The conclusion, as published in a research paper in 1970, pointed to none other than N-acetyl glucosamine.

Inflammatory Bowel Diseases

In inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD), such as Colitis and Ileitis (Crohn's disease), the body needs to replace tissues three times faster than normal, and there is not enough mucous lining to protect the walls of the digestive tracts. The walls thus become inflamed, causing pain and diarrhea. However, by supplying sufficient NAG, which scientists have identified as a major amino sugar constantly produced by the body in order to repair cell tissues, the mucous lining will begin to heal.

Side Effects?

There are no known side effects with Chitaq. Unlike most other products which contain residue foreign to the human body, Chitaq is a pure form of NAG, a common substance found naturally in the body. Thus, it is not surprising that no side effects have been observed. Furthermore, since Chitaq is fully water soluble, any excess will be routinely eliminated from the body.
